Do I need Injection Moulding?

Injection molding is the preferred manufacturing process when you want thousands or millions of the same plastic part/ product. The process involves heating up the plastic raw material - small plastic beads or pellets, usually to a liquid or near liquid state, and squirting it under pressure into the cavity of a metal mould.
Once you have finalised the design of the plastic part you want to produce, the first step in getting the part injection moulded is to build the mould. The mould is normally made of steel, although softer metals such as aluminium is used for moulds for some applications. The building of a mould requires great precision using specialist design software and metal working equipment. The cost of making a mould, is depended on the following:

  • the size of the mould
  • the number of cavities in the mould
  • the material the mould is made of
  • the texture if the finish required on the moulded article
  • the complexity of the part - among other factors

A well designed and built mould should make several hundred thousand plastic parts before needing any major refurbishment.

The Process

1. PART CONCEPT AND DESIGN

Prototyping and Cad modelling. we offer assistance and advice on product design to ensure best practices are followed with regards to the injection molding process. we are able to offer our customers a 3d visual presentation of their concept with the use of 3 D printing and development programs such as solid works and AutoCAD.
Auditing Sample. we can accept your real life sample and design ideas in most of the commonly used computerised formats, as well as a rough sketch on the back of an envelope.

2. MAKING AND DESIGNING MOULD

We have partnered with highly skilled tool makers both local and overseas, that are equipped with the latest cad technology, the design and development programs we use include: mastercam, solid works, auto cad and part advise our mould design staff will take your product from your plan or drawing and design the mould to produce the product you have specified. making moulds that are optimised to our brand of injection moulders. the workmanship of our toolmakers is of a very high quality.by having using this mould design concept and toolmakers we can guarantee that the mould will be built the way you want giving optimized manufacturing

3. INJECTION MOULDING

Once the mould and a couple of sample runs from that mould have been approved, running of the product begins. our machines range in size from 80 tonnes to 180 tonnes. We can mould items of various sizes within the parameters and capacity of our machines. We use the latest state-of-the-art injection molding technology, including energy efficient servo motors, thereby reducing customer costs through intelligent efficient production runs

4. TRANSFER OF EXISTING MOLDS TO OUR FACILITY

Mmaintenance of our customers' moulds is a responsibility we treat very seriously and any mould transfers will be facilitated seamlessly.
